Festival To Whom It May Concern It is a pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Galitcha, a talented, intriguing musical ensemble deserving of a wide audience. In my role as Artistic Director of the Ottawa Folk Festival, I have featured this unique group both in our festival environment and in a concert at the National Library Auditorium. As well, our organization presented Galitcha in a showcase event at the 2001 North American Folk Alliance conference in Vancouver, BC. In all cases, the group received a very positive response to their fascinating blend of music from India and other cultures. We are currently working to include Galitcha in our “Music in the Schools” program, as we feel that it is important for people of all ages to experience the mix of East and West, traditional and contemporary, that they embody. Since my first exposure to Galitcha, I have been impressed not only with the excellence of their performance but also with the ever-widening scope of their repertoire. These musicians are boldly exploring new territory and adeptly incorporating a variety of new influences into their work. I encourage you to support their artistic development.
